Go Cruelty-free with your Beauty Care
Cosmetic by definition is a substance that you put on your face or hair to make yourself look more attractive. Human beings have been rather obsessed with altering their appearances from time to time, there was a time when thin brows were the ‘it thing’ and now we’re all about the bushy brows. There’s always a new fad and the demand for cosmetics is usually on an all time high. This inevitably means that the cosmetic industry manufactures more.
While these products make us look and feel beautiful, there is a terribly dark side to the cosmetic industry in general. We don’t really get to see, till we dive into researching how these products are actually made. The results of which are nothing less than shocking. There’s a ton of material out there to prove that cruel methods to produce and test makeup and skincare still exist, from child labour to killing poor animals, the industry has gone to extreme ends just for profit.
There are these giant corporations out there that occupy a large chunk of the cosmetic business. The production and manufacturing of their products end up harming our environment in ways that are almost irreparable. This needs to change.
I suppose we’ve reached a point when we know what works on our skin and what doesn’t and there is absolutely no need to test makeup on animals to know if something will suit us. This is a proven fact and there are so many cruelty free brands out there that are doing some great work.
There’s no denying that things are moving in the positive direction, as a matter of fact, animal testing is banned in most countries. But there are a few countries out there that require animal testing and many big brands happily oblige.
It’s imperative for us to recognise these brands that test on animals in other countries and try to avoid using their products in general. There are some incredible companies in India that do cruelty free cosmetics and skincare and it’s time for us to grow our understanding of what we use and where these products are coming from. There’s always going to be a difference in price points and we will be required to do our own thorough research but we as consumers must be more cautious and aware of what we buy. Going the organic way is always the best option for you and for your surroundings. This one shift in your choice can help create an impact larger than you can fathom.
Here are a few links to websites that will help you understand the importance of going cruelty free and provide you with a guide to help you choose the best products for your skin.
It is our responsibility to be more ethical and caring towards our society, our environment and every single living being. Going cruelty free is just one way in which we can help maintain a balance in our ecosystem. Everyone deserves to live their lives with integrity and respect and it’s important for us to realise what a big part we as individuals can make by sparing these poor animals from being tortured to death and start going vegan towards our beauty care.
