Hello, I am Tanushree Ishani D, founder of Body Muse. I was pursuing my B.A in Psychology, Economics & Sociology from Mount Carmel Bangalore and then I went to London for my Post Graduation. After accomplishing my degree, I came back to India and joined one of the leading startups in India called Lookup as the Country Head HR. It was an early stage start-up at the time of my joining, and having worked firmly with the founding team, I had first hand experience in understanding the dynamics of a start-up. I got to know about entrepreneurship at the time, when I was leading the Entrepreneurship cell during my college days. That was the time when I thought of establishing our brand BodyCafe.
Body Cafe Founder - Pooja Karegoudar
Pooja is an engineer by profession but the entrepreneur bug bit her quite early and her passionate and creative personality did not lure her for a 9-5 job. She was formerly a founder of an event management company called CircleTheDate. A self-taught home baker, she loves to innovate with ingredients and come up with new recipes. Her love for cooking motivated her to study more about forgotten ancient Indian ingredients and how they can be brought together to make grooming and wellness products. Her comprehensive knowledge and thorough understanding of ingredients enable her to come up with unique creations for BodyCafé.
About the brand
We started BodyCafe in 2017 out of a commonly accepted passion for natural grooming products. The feedback we received from our customers were encouraging and that is when we started to grow a steady and loyal user base. We did some more R&D and market surveys, gathered the feedback and expectations of our users, and manufactured the unified product ranges. We officially launched ourselves as a Pvt. Ltd. company in 2019.
BodyCafé is an organic grooming and wellness brand that is based on authentic and traditional beauty practices. We take motivation from ancient home remedies (gharelu nuskhe), the goodness of nature (prakriti), and Ayurveda. This brand is also endorsed by many influencers like Nandini Bhalla (Editor Cosmopolitan India, Digital Editor LSG Magazine) Karishma Mehta (Founder Humans Of Bombay) and Maanvi Gagroo (PK, No One Killed Jessica, 4 more shots & Best actress TVF), Niharika Konidela, Noel Sean, Aashka Goradia, Sheeba, celebrity fitness expert Shwetambari Shetty, Natasha Suri. We have managed to carve a small yet a steady niche for ourselves in the market.

hrough our brand, we aim to empower the Indian agriculturalists i.e the REAL GROWERS and strongly focus on the community grown products of India. For instance we procure Lakadong Turmeric from Padma Shri awardee Trinity Saioo also known as the Turmeric lady of India who is credited with spearheading the women led turmeric farming in the North East of India and has empowered 800 women farmers.
Our packing is done by women who are warriors of domestic and marital abuse. Plus with the revenue that we generate, we allocate a considerable amount to donate covid and daily essentials to orphanages and old age homes. Furthermore, we have made Covid Family Safety Kits and have received an overwhelming response from North East wherein we have employee youth who have lost their jobs due to this current pandemic.
